How does the recruitment process work?

After receiving your enquiry, we'll ask you to complete a detailed family questionnaire so we can understand your household, routines and priorities. We'll then conduct a tailored recruitment search, advertising the role, screening applications and interviewing suitable candidates on your behalf.

Once we've completed our checks, we'll present a shortlist of suitable candidates for your family to meet and interview. When you've found the right fit, you'll employ the nanny directly and we'll remain available to support you through the transition.

What checks do you complete?

All nannies recruited through Capital Tots Nannies meet our minimum standards, including a face-to-face interview with the Agency Director, current First Aid and CPR qualifications, Working With Vulnerable People registration, Police Checks, professional references and demonstrated experience working with children.

Question 3

How many candidates will we meet?

Accepted Answer

Our goal is quality rather than quantity. Once we've completed our recruitment process, we'll present a shortlist of 2–4 suitable candidates for your family to meet and choose from.

Can we interview potential nannies?

Absolutely. Families are involved throughout the final stage of the recruitment process and have the opportunity to meet and interview candidates before deciding who they would like to welcome into their home.

Question 5

Who employs the nanny?

Accepted Answer

Once a placement is made, the nanny is employed directly by your family. Capital Tots Nannies provides recruitment and placement services only and does not supervise or manage the nanny after placement.

What are our responsibilities as an employer?

As the nanny's employer, families are responsible for:
Providing an employment contract and agreed working conditions
Paying wages, superannuation and any applicable entitlements
Obtaining workers' compensation insurance
Complying with Fair Work requirements and other relevant legislation
Maintaining open communication and a respectful working relationship

Question 7

How long does the recruitment process take?

Every search is unique, and timeframes can vary depending on the role requirements and current market conditions. While we work efficiently, our priority is finding the right fit rather than rushing the process.

As a guide, we recommend allowing 4–8 weeks of lead time when planning for a nanny placement. Starting the process early provides the greatest opportunity to thoughtfully source, screen and present candidates who align with your family's needs and preferences.

What happens if the placement isn't the right fit?

Finding the right fit is important to us. If the placed nanny leaves the role or proves unsuitable within three months of commencement, we'll conduct one re-recruitment search at no additional recruitment fee, provided the original role, hours and conditions remain substantially the same.

Can our nanny assist with additional household tasks?

Accepted Answer

A nanny's primary role is to provide safe, attentive and developmentally appropriate care for your children. Child-related tasks such as children's laundry, meal preparation, bottle sterilisation and tidying play spaces are commonly included. Additional household duties should be discussed directly with your nanny and clearly agreed upon as part of the employment arrangement.
