About the Position
Capital Tots Nannies is seeking an experienced part-time nanny to join a single-parent family in Denman Prospect, providing before and after school care for two children, aged 12 and 14.
The family consists of a father who works full-time outside the home and his two school-aged children. Both children are becoming increasingly independent and have their own interests and established routines. The eldest enjoys spending time with friends, computer games and swimming, while the youngest is particularly enthusiastic about bike riding and enjoys helping to prepare meals.
The household has a calm, respectful approach to everyday life, with an emphasis on listening to the children and supporting their growing independence. Their father values gentle guidance and encourages both children to pursue their own interests while maintaining familiar routines throughout the school week.
The family is looking for a nanny who genuinely enjoys working with older children and understands the importance of offering support without being overly directive. Someone who is patient, approachable and comfortable adapting to the children's individual needs would be particularly well suited to the position.
This is a lovely opportunity for a nanny seeking consistent weekday hours and a long-term position with a family who values positive, respectful relationships.
The Role
The successful candidate will provide before and after school care Monday to Friday, working from 7:00am–9:00am and 3:00pm–5:30pm, with 23 guaranteed hours per week.
Morning shifts will involve supporting the children as they prepare for school, ensuring they have everything they need for the day and helping maintain a calm, organised routine. Both children are accustomed to travelling to school independently, although occasional transport may be required.
Afternoon care will focus on being present when the children return home, providing appropriate supervision and supporting their established routines. The children enjoy pursuing their own interests and spending time with friends, so the nanny will need to balance giving them independence with remaining available to offer guidance when needed.
Responsibilities will also include preparing meals and snacks, encouraging the children to manage age-appropriate household tasks and undertaking light child-related duties. Occasional assistance with evening meal preparation may be required if their father is delayed returning home.
The family has a Jack Russell, and some assistance with the dog's everyday care will form part of the position. A family vehicle will be available for any required child-related transport.
Although the regular working hours follow a split-shift schedule, the family would appreciate some flexibility for additional daytime hours when the children are not attending school, including during school holidays. Occasional later finishes may also be requested, with additional hours arranged as needed.
The primary focus of this position is to provide dependable, age-appropriate care while supporting the children's wellbeing and encouraging their continued independence.
